Restoring Functional Movement & Maintaining Health

Lets Keep Moving at Home with Kirsty during COVID-19

As COVID-19 reduces our access to our regular ways of exercising & staying fit I have decided to 'do my bit' by using my experience of working as a physiotherapist for the past 15 years to try to help people stay motivated to maintain their fitness whilst being isolated at home.

-----------------------------------------------------------

I strongly believe in the use of exercise and functional movement to maintain health and independence and I will be using the You-Tube channel I have set up to provide free content including tips, advice, exercise videos, programs and links to useful blogs to keep people moving and staying active during this strange time.

How great.......I have just spoken to BBC Radio Oxford and they are going to play an audio clip tomorrow during their morning bulletin to tell their listeners all about my little project: 'Lets Keep Moving at Home with Kirsty during COVID-19'

PLUS you will also be able to hear my dulcet tones over the airwaves in the afternoon during a live interview (approx 2:15pm)

I may just have cracked this slow upload issue I have been having for the last few days.........You should now be able to view the first two 15 minute videos & also the warm-up & cool-down videos on the YouTube Channel!

The first 15 minute video is now uploaded and available to watch on the YouTube Channel!

Monday 23rd March 2020

Well this is painful......after completing a few of the exercise sessions and uploading them without due consideration of ‘music copyright’ I had to start again!🙄

I am now watching a frustratingly slow upload of my first 15 minute video with slightly less catchy music I’m afraid!

I will make sure I prioritise a warm-up and cool down session on the channel as soon as possible and get the rest of the sessions uploaded over the next few days.

I'd be very interested to hear constructive feedback after you have reviewed (or hopefully completed) the first session so feel free to contact me with your feedback on this link.......I know it’s not a professional video so please don’t send me comments like that!

My aim is simply to help people stay fit and active during isolation. I would especially like the opinion of the older adults (65 years+) that these videos are aimed at.

Stay Safe!

Sunday 22nd March 2020

From tomorrow I will be making & uploading short exercise videos to my YouTube channel. They will be freely available to watch and follow.

Click here for 'Kirsty Harris Physiotherapy' You Tube Channel

The exercise videos are based on the NHS Exercise Guidelines which you can find by following the below links:

Click here for 'Physical activity guidelines for adults aged over 65 years'

Click here for 'Physical activity guidelines for adults aged 18-64 years'

My videos will be based on the guideline of completing 150 minutes of moderate activity per week. There will also be 'Strength, Balance & Flexibility Sessions' based on the guidelines for adults aged over 65.

My aim is to complete & upload 10 videos containing 15 minute moderate activity sessions over the next few days that can be completed as seperate sessions or by adding a couple of sessions together.

The sessions will be made up of exercises that can be completed in different ways depending on your current fitness level.

Feel free to send me a message if you would like to check if the exercises will be appropriate for you or to request any particular exercises within the sessions.

Please feel free to pass this link on to anybody who may like to join us as we try to keep fit & active at home as self-isolation continues.
